Annoying People with Books

Recently, the more I talk about books to people the more they scoff at me especially when I talk about fantasy books. I absolutely hate it when people will scoff at a fantasy book and just compare it to Twilight or Harry Potter. Why do people do that? It makes the person reading the book feel small and isolated. Is this just me.

Also, when someone asks you what book your reading and you tell them and they don't actually care. Don't ask me about books unless you actually care. Also trying to explain the book is torture because it just sounds like nonsense. I'm actually fine with talking about books to people if they are actually interested in it and might want to pick the book I'm reading up. Or when they call you a nerd for reading it books no one get offended by the words "nerd" or "geek" anymore they embrace it. In my family I'm the only one who reads books for enjoyment and my siblings really find it hard to read books because they are so use to watching books in movie form instead of reading. It is so hard to explain the beauty of reading to them because they think it's nerdy and weird. They always just compare the books I try to get them into to Twilight and Hunger Games and it is really annoying to explain to them that they are not even close to being similar. My older sister she reads but she doesn't read for enjoyment the only books she read and really loved were The Fault in our Stars and Flowers in the attic. When my siblings mostly my older sister make fun of me for reading I often feel isolated because I am being made fun of for reading I could be doing drugs but, I'm not I'm reading books.

Books, movies and TV shows are an escape from the world we live in today. People who often read books well me mostly always get told to get my head out the clouds and get back into the real world. Why do people say this? Is it because they can't find an escape in books and they just live in the real world. Why do they scoff at books? Why do they ask stupid questions about books that they don't care for the answer?

Thank you for your time,

Love, Hannah xxx
